About Inclusion Yatra

A Rights-Based Framework for Justice

Advancing Justice. Designing Inclusion. Strengthening Systems.

At Equibridge Foundation, we are committed to a single, transformative truth: Accessibility and inclusion are not acts of charity; they are fundamental human rights.

Grounded in the principles of equity and participation, we are a rights-based organisation dedicated to dismantling the structural barriers that prevent individuals from living, learning, and working with dignity. We believe that disability is not a deficit within an individual, but a consequence of environments, systems, and attitudes that fail to accommodate human diversity.

Our work operates at the intersection of advocacy, research, and implementation. We do not simply ask for a seat at the table; we work to redesign the table itself, ensuring that diversity is embedded in the blueprint of our society. From educational institutions to public bodies and private sector organisations, we collaborate to enhance capacity, bridge gaps, and create environments where equality is a lived reality for all.

Aligned with the Law, Grounded in Justice

For too long, inclusion has been treated as a retrofit—an adjustment made after the fact. At Equibridge, we challenge this. Inclusion means creating spaces where everyone belongs by design. It is not merely about accommodation, but about designing systems where diversity is embedded from the start. We recognise that people experience barriers differently, and achieving equality requires understanding and responding to those realities.

From Accommodation to Belonging

Our work is strictly aligned with the Constitution of India, the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act (2016), and the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD). We bridge the gap between legislation and lived experience, translating policy commitments into practical actions that advance equality and participation.

Our Vision

“A just and inclusive society where every individual — disabled or non-disabled — can live, learn, and work with dignity, free from barriers and discrimination.”

Our Mission

“To advance accessibility, inclusion, and equality through a rights-based approach by bridging the gap between policy and practice. We strive to strengthen systems, transform mindsets, and enable collective action so that inclusion becomes a lived reality for all.”

Core Values

  • Participation: We ensure that those most affected by exclusion lead the change. “Nothing about us, without us.”
  • Equity: We believe in fairness and justice that recognises diverse needs and experiences.

  • Accessibility: We promote environments, systems, and attitudes that are inclusive by design, not as an afterthought.
  • Collaboration: We bridge communities, institutions, and ideas to co-create solutions.

  • Dignity: We uphold the inherent worth of every individual, ensuring respect in all our actions.
  • Accountability: We act with transparency and responsibility towards the people we serve.

Accessibility: The Foundation of Equality

Accessibility is the precondition for participation. We believe that without access, rights remain out of reach and justice remains incomplete.

  • Beyond the Ramp: We recognise that accessibility extends beyond the physical environment to communication, technology, information, and attitudes.

  • Universal Design: Through audits and consultations, we support institutions in identifying and eliminating exclusionary practices while promoting universal design as a guiding principle.

  • Systemic Shift: We aim to ensure that accessibility is embedded at the core of every structure and policy. For us, accessibility is an expression of equality, autonomy, and justice.

Inclusion and Participation

At the heart of inclusion lies the principle “Nothing about us, without us.”

  • Redistributing Power: Inclusion is about ensuring that disabled and non-disabled people work together as equals in designing, implementing, and evaluating policies.

  • Moving Beyond Tokenism: We view participation as a right, not a privilege. We work to transform systems that isolate or segregate into ones that recognise interdependence.

Advocacy and Policy

Social change begins with informed voices and accountable systems.

  • Implementation Focus: Our advocacy focuses on strengthening the implementation of rights guaranteed under the RPWD Act (2016) and the UNCRPD.

  • Evidence-Based: Our approach is participatory and research-driven. We facilitate dialogues and consultations that amplify the voices of persons with disabilities to ensure laws translate into meaningful change in everyday life.
